Acerca del evento
Se Habla Español is an exciting and collaborative program that brings together the expertise of Emporia Spanish Speakers and Emporia State University. This initiative is designed to empower individuals by equipping them with the fundamentals of the Spanish language. By bridging the language gap, the program not only enhances communication but also fosters a more inclusive and culturally sensitive community environment. With the combined efforts of these organizations, Se Habla Español is not just teaching introductory Spanish; it's building bridges of understanding and embracing diversity within the vibrant Emporia community.
This program will be broken into two 9-session blocks beginning Thursday, September 5th. The first block will end on Thursday, November 28th. The program will meet on three Thursdays each month at Emporia State University. Classes will take place in room #312 in Plumb Hall unless otherwise specified. On the 2nd Thursday of each month, Se Habla Español participants will have the opportunity (and are highly encouraged) to join the community for our monthly Language Exchange held at the Flint Hills Adult Learning Center. This is a unique opportunity to put into practice what you are learning in the classroom as you will get to practice speaking alongside other learners and native speakers! (See full schedule below)
Participants will learn Spanish vocabulary and phrases unique to customer service and business settings. Participants will also learn tips and techniques on how to use technology to aid conversations. Employees from all professions and in any role can benefit from being able to better connect with our Spanish-speaking community members.
This program could not be made possible without support from Emporia State University and our unwavering presenting sponsor, Emporia State Federal Credit Union.
